FLSA Status: Full-Time, Salaried-Exempt

 

Normal Working Hours – Office Hours: 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, in our corporate San Antonio office

 

As a Proposal Specialist at Joeris General Contractors, you will play a leading role in how we pursue and win work across Texas. This position is designed for an experienced proposal professional who brings confidence, creativity, and strategic insight to every pursuit. Your work will directly shape how clients experience the Joeris brand, our people, and our commitment to transforming people and places.

 

As part of the Proposal domain within the marketing department, you will independently manage multiple pursuits and contribute to the development of pursuit strategy and messaging. You will work closely with business development and operations partners to translate technical expertise and client priorities into clear, compelling proposals that reflect Joeris’ standards of quality and professionalism.

 

In this fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, you will be involved in all phases of the pursuit process, from interpreting RFP requirements and shaping strategy to writing content, designing custom layouts and graphics, and leading final production. You will lead project teams through interview preparation, facilitate prep sessions, develop interview slide decks, and coach teams to deliver confident, compelling presentations. You will bring creativity and intention to how stories are told, using both words and visuals to clearly communicate value and differentiate Joeris in competitive pursuits. Each pursuit offers an opportunity to think creatively, collaborate across teams, and deliver polished work that positions Joeris as a trusted builder and powerful partner.

Responsibilities

1.  Create and prepare appealing + informational proposals in response to Request for Proposals/Qualifications (RFP/RFQ), which include:

  • Independently review RFP and RFQ documents to understand client priorities, requirements, and evaluation criteria
  • Partner with business development and operations teams to develop pursuit strategy, messaging, and win themes
  • Translate requirements and strategy into clear, well-organized proposal plans and deliverables
  • Write, edit, and refine proposal content to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with Joeris' brand voice
  • Design and produce custom layouts and informational graphics that strengthen storytelling and visually communicate value
  • Manage pursuit schedules, pro-actively communicate with contributors, and adjust time-lines as priorities shift
  • Oversee final digital and print production to ensure accuracy, completeness, and on-time delivery

2.  Develop persuasive, client-focused proposal content that supports pursuits strategy, win themes, and overall messaging.

3.  Lead facilitate interview preparation by developing content, shaping presentation flow, coordinating materials, and coaching team members to deliver effectively.

4.  Create and maintain high-quality presentations and marketing collateral that supports pursuits and business development initiatives.

5.  Curate, maintain, and evolve proposal assets and documentation, including resumes, project information, graphics, and boilerplate content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and alignment with brand standards.

6.  Conduct research on clients, competitors, and market sectors to inform pursuit strategy and proposal messaging.

7.  Produce and tailor team resumes and project sheets to align with pursuit strategy and client priorities.

8.  Collaborate closely with business development, operations, and marketing team members to gather content, align messaging, and support pursuit success.

9.  Perform additional l marketing-related tasks at the direction of the Manager, Marketing and Pursuits of Marketing Directors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or coursework in Business, Marketing, or Communications, including but not limited to technical writing, journalism, graphic design, integrated marketing communications, and creative writing, speech communication and rhetoric, English language and literature, international and global studies, construction science, architecture, sociology, organizational leadership, history, and philosophy.
  • 4+ years of A/E/C Industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in independently leading RFP/RFQ responses to include proposal strategy, development, and production.
  • Experience with graphic design and page layout required.
