Overview

Reports to: Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent

 

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Hourly

 

Normal Working Hours – Jobsite Hours: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, plus additional hours as required to complete project duties

 

Position Objective: Responsible for the construction, erection, installation and repairs to structures and fixtures of wood and plywood using carpenter’s hand and power tools. Maintains knowledge of building codes. May be asked to move to different jobsite locations over the course of employment.

Responsibilities

• Understand and adheres to all safety policies, holds coworkers accountable for unsafe behaviors.
• Assist with gridline and wall layout
• Installation of railings, both wooden and steel
• Installation of roof and wall blocking
• Setting small for work - edge forms, flatwork, MEP pads, etc.
• Setting embeds and /or anchor bolts
• Place concrete and finish small pours such as MEP pads, plumbing trenches, sleeves, etc.
• Set and plumb hollow metal frames
• Be able to swing wood and hollow metal doors from frames
• Minor steel stud framing of walls and platforms
• Perform minor drywall repairs to include patch, tape, float, etc.
• Installation of fire caulking
• Additional duties as required, including all duties of a Carpenter 1

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of commercial construction experience required
• Carpentry apprenticeship education a plus

• Basic blueprint reading to include Civil, Architectural, and Structural drawings.
• Ability to reference and interpret plan details and section cuts.
• Ability to convert tenths and hundreds to tape measure dimensions.
• Ability to identify rebar by size, type, and grade.
• Knowledge of grades and how they work
• Compliance and enforcement of all Joeris Safety procedures and practices.
• Capable of interpreting and reading shop drawings and data sheets.
• Ability to identify pieces and check deliveries for accuracy.
• Know how to operate a site / builder's level
• Must be proficient in operating and performing maintenance on light construction equipment to include but not limited to skid steer, forklift, aerial lift, scissor lift, trencher, compactor, compressor, generator
