Overview

Reports to: Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent

 

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Hourly

 

Normal Working Hours – Jobsite Hours: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, plus additional hours as required to complete project duties

 

Position Objective: Responsible for the construction, erection, installation and repairs to structures and fixtures of wood and plywood using carpenter’s hand and power tools. Maintains knowledge of building codes. May be asked to move to different jobsite locations over the course of employment.

Responsibilities

• Understand and adhere to all safety policies, holds coworkers accountable for unsafe behaviors.
• Assist with installation of railings, both wooden and steel.
• Assist with installation of roof and wall blocking.
• Drive stakes to assist with surveying and boundaries.
• Grouting base plates, railings, etc.
• Place and tie rebar for small pours such as MEP pads, plumbing trenches, etc.
• Perform general cleanup
• Perform steel and weld touchups with primer and galvalume.
• Perform bondo work on hollow metal doors and frames.
• Assist and learn how to properly set hollow metal frames.
• Installation of caulk in a clean and neat bead.
• Installation and maintenance of tree protection.
• Installation and maintenance of erosion control measures.
• Additional duties as required

Qualifications

• 1 - 2 years of commercial construction experience preferred
• Carpentry apprenticeship education a plus

• Must be able to read a tape measure
• Have a basic knowledge of hand tools, what they are and what they are used for.
• Have a basic knowledge of materials, adhesives, fasteners - what they are, proper applications, differences.
• Have a basic knowledge of construction safety practices.
• Possess the ability to learn blueprint reading to aide with navigating the building and site.
• Possess basic verbal communication skills
• Must be capable of using hand tools and small power tools
• Must be able to perform minor maintenance and upkeep of company issued tools and equipment.
• Must have knowledge of and be capable of learning how to operate light construction equipment to include but not limited to: skid steer, fork lift, aerial lift, scissor lift, trencher, compactor, compressor, generator.
